Rubis is an opulent eau de parfum built on black cherry, violet, and rose, with freesia and a touch of orange keeping the opening from tipping fully into gourmand territory. The heart pairs violet and rose with Peru balsam, whose sticky, almost smoky depth holds the florals in place, while a base of patchouli Prisma and Haitian vetiver gives the scent an earthy, humid quality. Composed by Bruno Jovanovic, it is dense and ripe from the first spray, and the quality of the materials keeps its boldness from feeling cheap.
